We’ve produced 4 feature-length art films in the period 2024-2025. All films are based on meticulous research and a strong narrative in combination with lots of visuals to provide viewers with a highly-informative and fully accessible window into the story of art.
To find out where you can watch our films, please visit the Documentaries section above.
From 2026 on our focus is on the production of both feature-length and shorter art films, a new video podcast featuring conversations with art experts and – last not but not least – a series of essays about art by author and filmmaker Howard Burton. Find out more below.👇
🔎 By the way, we have deliberately chosen the name Exploring Art History for our substack, YouTube channel and also our Spotify channel to make it easy to find us and share with other art lovers!

🎬 ART FILMS: We’re currently in pre-production of a biographical film about Artemisia Gentileschi and a separate series about women artists throughout history. In addition, we’re preparing an extensive range of additional art films that will be filmed on location in Italy this summer.
🎬 🎙️ VIDEO PODCAST: Our new Exploring Art History video podcast features seriously-engaging conversations with a spectrum of art experts, including professional art historians, museum directors, curators, authentication specialists, art restorers and more. The discussions offer a uniquely accessible window into both their research and personal journeys.
The Art of Conversation: The podcast is explicitly designed for a video format, incorporating lots of visuals in order to illuminate the mysteries, discoveries and new interpretations under discussion. The podcast videos are available on our Exploring Art History YouTube channel and Spotify channel. We’ve produced carefully edited English subtitles that are the basis for all translated captions on YouTube; Spotify allows only English subtitles. The audio version is available on Apple Podcasts and other audio channels.
✍️ ART ESSAYS: On our Substack Exploring Art History we release a weekly essay about art by Howard Burton. Take for instance a look at a series of essays about the magnificent floor mosaics in Siena Cathedral to get a picture of the intriguing stories they contain. Another highlight is the nine-part series about Italian Renaissance artist Sofonisba Anguissola’s journey and the world she lived in to become one of the most accomplished female artists of her time.
